Chicago is known as one of the largest cities in the United States. It is also well known for its amazing architectural styles and skyscrapers, a treat to the eyes. There are a number of museums sporting the art collections in the city. Located on the south west shoreline of the impossibly large Lake Michigan, Chicago comes with amazing beaches. All these make Chicago a well known tourist spot, with a number of tourists flocking here, all across the year.
The Best Places in Chicago – (beaches aside)
Top Chicago places to visit 1 – Art Institute of Chicago

The Art Institute of Chicago is publicly voted as the best museum in the world. You have to visit this place at least once when in Chicago.

You need to spend an entire day in this building to view arts that cover 5,000 years of human history.

You get to see masterpieces by noted artists all across the world. Every weekend, there are fun art making activities for kids as well.

Top Chicago places to visit 2 – Millennium Park

This is one of the newest places in the city, which has become a popular tourist destination. All through the year, free performances and concerts are held here.

It is a fun experience to explore this 5 acre garden. Segway Tours are given of the park and of course we have Cloud Gate.

Cloud Gate – located in Millennium Park. For me, Chicago is almost worth a visit just to see ‘The Bean’ aka ‘ ‘The Electric Kidney Bean’ – a simple, shiny, futuristic giant of a thing, in the shape of yes, you guessed it…a bean! It’s an amazing structure, and also very, very popular. Get up early. I have warned you 🙂

The warped reflection the Bean gives of the Chicago skyline is amazing.
Top Chicago places to visit 3 – 360 Chicago

360 Chicago is an open-air Skywalk located in the heart of the city.

It’s former name was John Hancock Observatory.

Open till 11 pm, the elevators take you up to the 94th floor at a height of 1,000 feet within 40 seconds. The multimedia Sky Tour is quite impressive, and you can check out the history of the city on the 80 foot wall.

You get to learn a lot from this place. Moreover, from the height you can spot other landmarks like Wrigley Field, Navy Pier, and the marinas.
Top Chicago places to visit 4 – The Magnificent Mile

The Magnificent Mile is the perfect place if you love shopping. You get the perfect store for every item you are looking for.

Jewelry, toys, clothing, you name it, they have it.

Devote an amount of time here so as not to miss out on anything.
Top Chicago places to visit 5 – Navy Pier

The Navy Pier is like a city within the city covering over 50 acres of land in the Chicago lakefront territory.

Millions of people come to this place to experience the restaurants, shopping, museums, stages, gardens, parks, and other attractions found here.

Make sure not to miss out on the Ferris Wheel ride at Navy Pier.

I also give honourable mentions to the following..
Willis Tower SkyDeck

Museum of Science and Industry
Oriental Institute Museum
Garfield Park Conservatory
John Hancock Center

I went to Chicago last fall for 2 weeks and seen everything but the 360 thing. If you have an issue with heights, trust me.. Avoid that like the plague! My favorite was the Art Institute. There are such cool and amazing things to bee seen in there. Also, you will see a lot of shops and such in between everything listed here that are really neat too!

We’ll be passing through Chicago so we’ll only stay here a day and a half. My fiance wants to see the Art Institute so you can say that most of our time in Chicago will be spent there. I still hope we have at least a few hours to spare as I’m dying to visit the Navy Pier and have one last ride in the soon to be replaced ferris wheel. I can hardly wait for this; it’s going to be awesome!

Hey Brody, I hope you have a great time. I didn’t know they were replacing the ferris wheel though. Not sure how I feel about that 🙁
But yes you need to go have one last ride before it gets pulled down
